If you don´t know Melissa auf der Maur, she is an ex-member of the band Hole (Courtney Love). But in contrast to Courtney Love she still makes good music instead of playing the bitch. Since 30.03.2010 Melissas new album is out. First OOOM was just a song of the soon to be second album. The sound is edgy as usual. Together with her voice a pleasure for your ears. Because of the new technique and going back to her roots in visual arts this album became great and has a wonderful visual concept. There is a comic and a movie to the album.
My first contact with Melissas music was back in 2004. The song “Follow the waves” was the first song of this year i listened to after a very bad experience i made. Other music just rolled of my skin at that time and didn´t touch me. Maybe you´ve heard this song too and now remember who Melissa auf der Maur is.
Since a few days i wanted to write about Sonic Iceland but i didn´t have the time yet. But now from the beginning. Since a while i read Kai Müller´s blog Stylespion. A short time ago he started a project together with his friend Marcel Krüger. It´s called Sonic Iceland and is just genious. It´s about music and Iceland. Because i´m a music freak and i like to listen to islandic bands myself i thought i support the guys with an articel about their project. Somic Iceland focuses on the music scene of Iceland. Kai Müller and Marcel Krüger will travel to Iceland to interview bands. Their goal is to sketch a portrait of Iceland and its music. But it won´t be lame music journalism, they will meet and live together with people and explore how they live, work and make music. You can defenitly look forward to great posts in their blog. That all this can happen the two guys need your help. They are searching for sponsores who help to finance the project and people who have informations about interesting places in Iceland. So please get in contact with these two and support them.
Finally the blog is on again. I had to change some things but now everything is working again. Because today i have not enough time there´s just a little music that crossed my way the last few days. Tomorrow you will get something better to read. Promised.
Acoustic versions of my favourite songs. Have a great weekend!
Chun Wei Liao grew up with the paper and packaging industry and has a founded knowledge and understanding about paper. In september 2009 she opened the plattform Paperself. Everything is designed and made out of paper and cardboard. In the meantime Paperself consists of a group of designers, engineers and producers that work as a team to get more opportunities out of paper. I like the lamp “Transformer Light” a lot for example. But really funny are the paper eyelashes. Perfect for creative fashion shoots. I don´t know if you could wear those during a normal day. But they are an eye catching item anyway. At the moment you can buy the products just in shops in London and in Australia. Soon there shall be also an online shop. If i´m in London again i take a look at the stuff.
My friend sent me this link to a video this morning. I like the music so i thought i tell you too. The official video i can´t show because my blog doesn´t like Yahoo-Videos. So you get the youtube video here. Have fun listening.
