A few days ago while i rummaged through the books of my mum a little book fell into my hands. It is a reading book for second class of „Volksschule“ in Baden-Württemberg Germany from 1964. Today this kind of school doesn´t exist anymore or has a different name. I don´t know if the book is from my mum or my dad but i think these books looked the same. This book is full of little stories and quotes. But what really caught my eye were the great illustrations. First i thought they are coloured ink paintings but then i read the inside of the cover more carefully. These illustrations are all woodcuts!!! Just imagine that. The woodcuts were made by Hermann Burkhardt and they are exactly 96 pieces plus cover. A little treasure as i would say. I will definitly take care of it so it doesn´t get more broken as it is already.
A few days ago a nice guy from Denmark called Jesper introduced me to the sound of Aebeloe. Aebeloe aka Natal Zaks is a young producer from the danish club scene. He already made his marks with Mislyd on the clubs of Copenhagen and Aarhus. It´s long ago that i visited Denmark by the way. As a teenager i wanted to move to Denmark. But back to the topic. Natal Zaks works now solo with the project Aebeloe. He is inspired for example by Extrawelt, Flying Lotus, Little Dragon, Isis and Karate. But also names like Underground Resistance, Juan Atkins and Jeff Mills are important in his creative process. At the end of this entry you´ll find one track to listen to. Those who already listened to Stella Polaris No.6 will know the track „Nedtoning“. The goal of Stella Polaris Small Secret is to get new talents, new ideas and artists together. Out of the dark cellars with its neon light and humming computers right into the ears of music nerds. I don´t listen to music like this very often but i can imagine the „Nedtoning“ remix in a movie. Stella Polaris Small Secrets Vol.1 feat. Aebeloe is out since 12.09.2010 via Beatport.
Update: My audio player doesn´t work. If you want to listen to the tracks just visit Soundcloud. Sorry.
